El baile de los que sobran: Visions of the Struggle for Latin America. Book List

My work is concerned with the relationship that personal stories have with the bigger history of my country. I have studied and taken workshops with artists like Antoine D'Agata, Sohrab Hura, Sabiha Çimen, Joan Fontcuberta, Laida Lertxundi, Stefan Kaegi, Lynne Sachs, Clifford Owens and Felipe Cazals. I studied a degree in cinema at Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica and I'm currently enrolled at ICP's One-Year Certificate Program in Photojournalism, for which I was a recipient of the Jan Mulder Scholarship. In 2022 I was selected as a finalist in the Magnum Foundation and was picked by Alex Webb & Rebecca Norris Webb as the recipient of La Luz's Friends of Mary Ellen Mark Scholarship. I was part of Centro de la Imagen's Seminario de Producción Fotográfica in its 2021 class and have taken part in activities and exhibitions with the VII Academy, Festival Internacional de Fotografía en Valparaíso (FIFV), Kranj Foto Fest and Sphere Festival. Additionally to my work in photography I have also worked in performance and moving image. My films have been exhibited at Mexico's National Cinematheque and other venues around the world. In 2020 I co-curated a large retrospective of the works of R. Bruce Elder in Cineteca Nacional. View all posts by Manuel Bayo Gisbert
