10×10 Reading Room
Day #9. Kunihiro Takahashi / Tosei sha

About Kunihiro Takahashi‘s Selection for the 10×10 Reading Room:
My selection focuses on the concept of “Living.” Many of the books presented here explore the traditional life of Japanese villages in the 1970s by depicting the daily rituals, local festivals, and traditional customs of Japanese countryside communities. Although threatened by globalization, many of these villages and their traditional ways can still be found in pockets of rural Japan.

Kunihiro Takanashi‘s 10×10 Reading Room Selection:

Kazuo Kitai, 1970 Nippon (Tokyo: Tosei sha, 2001)
Hiromi Tsuchida, Zokushin (Tokyo: Tose sha, 2004)
Issei Suda, Minyo Sanga (Tokyo: Tosei sha, 2007)
Tsuneo Yamashita, Another Time On the Ryukyu Islands (Tokyo: Tosei sha, 2008)
Osamu Funao, Kamisama Hotokesama (Tokyo: Tosei sha, 2008)
Megumi Iwata, Tatara (Tokyo: Tosei sha, 2011)
Mitsuru Fujita, Zaisyo (Tokyo: Tosei sha, 2010)
